Narrative and Documentary

Documentary work invites a deeper level of listening. I begin with a clear direction, then stay open to the real moments that reveal who people are and what their story truly needs. Trust is essential. When contributors feel safe and supported, emotion comes forward naturally and the narrative becomes stronger.

I use cinematography to serve the story rather than draw attention to itself, shaping the mood with careful framing, light and movement. Sound is equally important. The quiet detail of a room or a single breath can carry as much meaning as an image.

This approach has guided my work on a range of narrative and feature documentaries, including ‘Lancaster’, described by Brian Viner of the Daily Mail as - "A hugely poignant, timely, resonant and powerful film" ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ .

I’m currently in production as DOP filming ‘Mosquito’.

If your project needs sensitivity, patience and a steady, thoughtful hand, this is where I feel most at home.
